On top of your must-haves for a senior living community — quality and levels of care, top-notch community amenities, engaging activities and events and perfect-for-you floor plans — you may want to consider adding not-for-profit to your list.
By design, a not-for-profit senior living community like Beacon Hill in Lombard reinvests any profits right back into its core mission. Since revenue isn’t the driving force behind decision-making, priority is placed on resident well-being and satisfaction.
For-profit senior living communities, on the flipside, run like any private business with a need to generate profits for stakeholders. Though this doesn’t automatically mean quality of care and service suffer, the bottom line is different than those of not-for-profit communities.
Why You Should Consider a Not-For-Profit Senior Living Community
Planning for life after retirement looks a bit different for everyone. It’s a very personal decision filled with a lot of external factors, including living costs. Here at our Life Care community in Lombard, we have a one-time entrance fee to cover health care needs for each resident as long as they live here. Upon moving in, residents simply have a predictable monthly fee for general living expenses.
As a not-for-profit community, Beacon Hill also receives non-operational support from The Lifespace Foundation. Founded almost 30 year ago, the charitable arm of Lifespace Communities supports successful and purposeful aging and peace of mind for our residents knowing they have a home for life.
Reinvestment into Beacon Hill
As a Lifespace community, we commit to providing a safe, comfortable life for our residents at Beacon Hill. When coupled with the philanthropic support of The Lifespace Foundation, we have greater flexibility to go above and beyond to enhance our programming, activities, adaptive accessories and many more items on our residents’ wishlists.
Residents Help Guide our “Neighborhood”
Beacon Hill residents have a voice at the table and help determine reinvestment into our “neighborhood.” Our local Foundation Advisory Committee reviews requests and determines how funds are distributed and awarded. Who better to guide the community than the people who live here? From the beloved library program run by dedicated volunteers to team member emergency funds, our residents actively influence the experience of the people who call Beacon Hill home.
Beacon Hill’s Benevolent Care Promise to Residents
Our resolute Benevolent Care Promise to support any Lifespace resident who outlives their financial resources, through no fault of their own, with continued care for the remainder of their life remains a pillar of both our Beacon Hill community and The Lifespace Foundation.
